Hummingbirds are tiny, colourful birds known for their incredible speed and agility. They are native to the Americas and are found from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. With their wings beating up to 80 times per second, they can hover in mid-air and fly forwards, backward, and even upside down. Hummingbirds have long, thin beaks that are perfectly adapted to feed on nectar from flowers, their primary food source. They also eat insects and spiders for protein. Despite their small size, hummingbirds have a fierce and territorial nature, often chasing away birds much larger than themselves. They are a true wonder of nature and a delight to watch!
